New Twists – Annual Arena Lake Ride!

We needed to shake things up a bit for our June Birthday ride to Arena Lake this year, and what a fantastic day it turned out to be! To make it the best experience possible, we:

  • ⏰ Started an hour earlier to snag parking at the super popular Round Corral.
  • 🟦 Added a “Blue” ride for members looking for a bit more of a challenge.
  • 🗺️ Took a different route to keep our horses off the busy Forest Service roads.
  • 💦 Included a water crossing lesson at Surface Creek for our Green Riders.

How the day split up:

  • The Blue Group (9 riders): Wove through the trees and around the lakes, successfully crossing Surface Creek several times and arriving at lunch right on schedule.
  • The Green Group (7 riders): Followed the same path until the “Drop Off” intersection, then headed back to the road and down to Surface Creek. A huge Thank You to Brandy for sharing her knowledge and experience on how to safely cross a stream!

Pot Luck Rendezvous: Both groups met up for lunch at Arena Lake. The Green group was very happy they waited for the rest of the crew to show up, because Archie arrived with the tablecloths—and what would a WSCSC picnic be without the tablecloths?! The food was exceptionally good with a great mix of savory and sweet.

☀️ Weather was Perfect!!! Ride was Perfect! ☀️

Heartfelt Thanks To:

  • CJ: For keeping us on track, taking names, and getting everyone there on time and Ready to Ride.
  • Gwen & Brandy: For scouting, finding, and clearing the trails to keep us all safe (with some great assistance from Rob, CJ, and Juleen!).

Can’t wait for the next one! 🐴❤️
